Education in Lebanon
Educational Structure in Lebanon:
a. Is divided into:
1. Three types: general, vocational and technical and higher education
2. Two sectors: public and private (part of the private schools are subsidized)
b. General education is 6-3-3, as follows:
* Grades 1-6: elementary cycle (for 6-12 year olds)
* Grades 7-9: intermediate cycle (for 13-15 year olds)
* Grades 10-11: secondary cycle (for 16-18 year olds)
c. Pre-elementary education is of three years duration (for 3-6 year olds)
d. Vocational and technical education (VTE) provides the following diplomas:
* CAP: Certificat d'aptitude Professionelle (two years after the elementary cycle)
* BP: Brevet Professionnel (three years after the elementary cycle)
* BT: Baccalaureat Technique (three years after the intermediate cycle)
* FPM: Formation Professionnelle de Maitrese (three years after the intermediate cycle)
* TS: Technicien Supérieur (three years after the secondary cycle)
* LT: Licence Technique (four years after the secondary cycle)
